I met my nephew today.
He’s the teeny, tiniest, little human I’ve ever seen. He’s three pounds and three ounces. My laptop weighs more than he does. Just so you have some perspective on how fragile and small he is. I’m so happy that he’s alive and as well as he can be for how soon he decided to show up. He’s in an incubator, but he’s mostly breathing on his own which is more than I could do at his age. He’s pretty amazing really. He’s not even gross looking. I mean, he has tubes and things all over the place :/ but what can I say, I’m probably biased. All the other babies in the NICCU (Newborn and Infant Critical Care Unit) had fun little placards with their names on them except for my little pal. His just read “Boy Morales” I made him the above so his incubator can now be fun and festive too. He’s going to be in there for quite a while, but he’s doing alright all things considered. He probably won’t be able to come home before I leave for NYC, but that’s alright because I’ll just go visit him in his little heater and we’ll just hang out. I’ll watch him breathe, gain weight, and learn to eat; it’ll be great. He turns when he hears me and my brother in law talk. My sister says it’s because babies recognize the voices they heard when they were still in the womb. Pretty cool huh? I think so at least.
I’m pretty much done with the rambles though. Hope you’re all having a lovely day too :)
